ABOUT
Folk Spot Denmark started in 2012 showcasing Danish folk acts with ambitions and potential, aiming to boost their international careers.
Through the years, we have had guests from international festivals such as Glastonbury Festival (UK), Cambridge Folk Festival (UK), Edmonton Folk Festival (CAN), Folk Alliance, Winnipeg Folk Festival (CA), Sunfest (CA), Førde Folk Music Festival (NOR), Mission Folk Festival (CAN), Viljandi Folk Music Festival (EST), G! Festival (Faroe Isles) and Woodford Festival (AUS).
Additionally we have welcomed a large selection of international bookers, agents and record labels, as well as journalists from RadioDeutschland, NRK (Norwegian national broadcasting), Knack Magazine (Belgium), Roadtracks Magazines (Germany), fRoots (UK) and many more.
During Tønder Festival we present eight Nordic (seven Danish and one Norwegian) folk acts that have been selected by an international jury of music professionals. Some of them already have a lot of experience touring around the world – others are talented acts on their way up, ready to take their first steps into the international folk scene.
Additionally we welcome about 40 international music professionals and journalists, who will have the opportunity to connect with the artist and network with each other through different networking events such as speed dating dinners.
This year’s Folk Spot Denmark will take place August 23rd and 24th during Tønder Festival. The lineup for this year’s Folk Spot Denmark will consist of Maja Kjær si Orkester, Simone Tang, Som Os, Svøbsk, The Mukherjee Development, Trio Mio and Twang.
Folk Spot Denmark is organized by Tønder Festival and SPOT Festival.
